Motherwell At least midfield’s OK
We started the new season with the mandatory hope and optimism but discovered that the start of this campaign looked very much like the last.
After a poor opening, we matched Rangers box to box yet still contrived to lose. While we can be pleased at our improved midfield this year, in a tight league with questionable quality it is what happens in the boxes rather than between them that is usually decisive.
We chucked Rangers two goals but they returned only one of the favours, falling asleep at a set piece. Particularly frustrating was the failure to punish two late mistakes from them, with Alex Fisher and Craig Tanner both spurning glorious opportunities for us.
