Scotland’s economy is facing a Brexit nosedive after a surge in the number of EU nationals leaving the UK resulted in net migration falling to a three-year low

Yet further proof the FM does not have a basic grasp of economics or the labour market. Innovation and growth stem from the regulatory environment, not sucking in cheap labour that overloads health, housing and education.

There can be no separate immigration policy for Scotland because of the absolute freedom to live and work anywhere in the UK. If Scotland retained freedom of movement with the EU, then the whole UK would, by extension. It is bizarre that the First Minister rejects a “one size fits all policy” as part of the UK... but would sign up to one as part of the EU with 27 other countries. It is the usual “London bad, Brussels good” routine.

I had the pleasure of working with many Eastern Europeans who have now settled here; they pay their taxes, contribute to the community, etc. I have no issue with them being in Scotland at all and they should not be subject to all of this uncertainty and stress.
