World Scrabble champ crowned
A new world Scrabble champion has been crowned – thanks to his knowledge of classroom furniture.
David Eldar, 27, beat his opponent, placing the word “carrels” – a cubicle desk – to score 74 points.
He claimed victory at Nottingham Conference Centre after competing against players from 26 countries in the MSI World Championships.
Real estate worker Mr Eldar, who has been playing the board game for 14 years, won £7,000.
