Time to oppose

-

It seems Jeremy Corbyn is as confused about Scotland as he is on the implications of staying in the Single Market.

Last week he said it was impossible tobe in the Single Market without EU membership, now he says it is difficult and very problematic to have separate Brexit deals for parts of the UK ( your report, 28 August) with different economic and legal systems, thus illustrating his ignorance of Scots Law and how federal systems work in Germany, Canada or the USA.

Labour should stop courting Ukip voters on freedom of movement, support the Scottish Government’ sdetailed compromise Brexit solution as proposed by Ni cola Sturgeon last year–which is now being argued for by the Irish Foreign Minister – and oppose the EU Repeal Bill when it comes before parliament.

Slowly, day by day, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is gaining more credibility with the electorate and he should be taken very seriously by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as he rallies supporters in Scotland, focusing on the constituencies he could well win back for Labour.

After taking such a pounding at the last general election the SNP administration need to reorganise with some new blood to fight the next Holyrood elections, otherwise they may face the same outcome. DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN
