Healthy recipes drive to cut obesity
A campaign to combat obesity in Scotland has been launched in Edinburgh.
The Inch by Inch for Scotland drive includes weekly exercise videos and healthy recipes based on ingredients from convenience stores which can be cooked in the microwave.
Run by Assist FM, the association for facilities management providers across all Scottish councils, the campaign will include challenges aimed at people in the most deprived areas,afterthenhsfoundpeople here are more likely to be obese than those in the most affluent areas. Almost one in three (29 per cent) adults in Scotland is obese.
Alistair Mcintyre, head of catering at Scottish Borders Council and Assist FM ambassador, said: “Inch by Inch for Scotland is a campaign aimed at reducing obesity amongst the population of Scotland by creating positive content aimed at teenagers and families to challenge them to take part in exercises or in preparing a healthier diet.”
