Not fare
I agree with Andrew Gray (Scotsman, 9 September), regarding manners on buses.
I had experience last week while traveling on a very full bus. Luckily I had a seat. At one stop a very flustered mother and child boarded the bus and because she looked so harassed and although I am over 80, I offered my seat.
She thanked me and then sat her child on the seat while remained standing herself. I had expected her to sit with the child on her lap. That is the first time I have given up my seat to a child.
I remained standing with many others until I reached my destination. How things have changed!
