Dalgleish hopes on Sindarban

- By GORDON BROWN

Keith Dalgleish is enjoying another terrific Flat season and the Carluke trainer is looking to Sindarban on the opening card of Musselburgh’s jumps campaign.

Sindarban, who was bred by the Aga Khan, faces eleven rivals in the Never Miss A Race On Racing UK Handicap Hurdle at 3pm.

Dalgleish said: “He is tough and genuine and is pretty decent on the Flat – he won last year’s Cumberland Plate at Carlisle. It’s a fairly competitive race but he is rated 87 on the Flat and is quite classy.”

Iain Jardine, currently in Australia where Nakeeta came fifth in yesterday’s Melbourne Cup won by Rekindling for trainer Joseph O’brien, has top-weight Vercingetorix, who was just pipped under 12st at Carlisle last time.

Also in the line-up is Jim Goldie’s veteran Jonny Delta, successful on the level and over hurdles at Musselburgh.

No Such Number completed a summer hat-trick at Hexham and the Maurice Barnestrained Cumbrian raider is one of five declared for the Finest Collection Of Racing On Racing UK Handicap Chase.

Sandy Thomson and Rachael Mcdonald are represented by Blue Kascade who has winning course form in chasing and hurdling company.

Kevin Ryan does not have many jumpers but Beyond The Clouds can maintain his unbeaten start to the season in the Alistair Montgomery Trust Novices’ Hurdle.

Today is the first of ten national hunt fixtures at the East Lothian venue with a total of £640,000 in prize money.
