Scots facilities firm makes buy

- By SCOTT REID

Facilities services group Edwin James Holdings (EJH) has continued with its acquisition spree, snapping up a Midlands-based maintenance specialist as part of its growth plans.

Financial details regarding the takeover of Peterborough Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (PEME) have not been disclosed.

PEME is described as an outsourced reliability maintenance services company that undertakes electrical and mechanical plant and asset work for major UK and European manufacturers. The acquisition is EJH’S second since it was backed by specialist support services investment firm Aliter Capital in January and forms part of plans to establish the group as a leading national technical services business.

EJH is headquartered just outside Glasgow and operates five key businesses: PEME; Staffordshire-based WT Parker Group; Musk, in Derbyshire; Ingen Technical Services, in central Scotland; and Korrie, which is based in Inverness.

The latest deal sees EJH further expand its service offering and geographical footprint – creating a business with combined revenues of about £150 million and some 1,000 staff.

Derek Smith, chief executive of EJH, said: “PEME is a highly-regarded business that has successfully carved out a niche in the growing outsourced production management services market.

“The company’s focus on plant maintenance is a great fit for EJH and will enable us to further develop our process services offering and capabilities.”

Earlier this year, EJH acquired WT Parker Group – a mechanical, electrical and process engineering business.
