Yeates wins top award for her work in Scotland
Amy Yea tes,t he director of golf at Fairmont St Andrews, has earned one of the most prestigious awards in golf club management after being hailed for “being at the forefront of the evolution of golf in Scotland”.
She received the Golf Club Management Association ( GCMA) Manager of the Year Award at the association’s annual conference at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey earlier t his week. The judging panel was particularly impressed with t he way Yeates help ed to drive through a new flexible membership scheme at Fairmont St Andrews, while providing inspirational leadership for her team.
“The G CM A Golf Club Management Awards reward the exceptional work that goes on in our industry, and Manager of the Year is the greatest honour,” said GCMA CEO Bob Williams. “This was perhaps the hardest judging process I’ve been involved in–the standard of the finalists was exceptional – and Amy is an outstanding winner.
“It’s clear she’s a passionate manager who cares deeply about her team, and we were particularly impressed with her vision for the industry.”
Meanwhile, 1999 winner Paul Lawrie has praised an innovative partnership between the Open Championship and his beloved Abe r dee nFC ahead of next year’s event at Carnoustie in July 2018.
The marketing partnership will provide supporters with unique and engaging content in the lead-up to the event. Dons fans will be able to get up close to the famous Claret Jug as it visits Pittodrie over the coming months.
“I am delighted that my boyhood club has become a partner of The Open ahead of its return to Carnoustie next year ,” said Lawrie, pictured .“I have fond memories of the fantastic support I received from fellow Dons fans during the Championship in 1999 and it would be great to see them back at Carnoustie.”
