What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

A brilliant wool patchwork denim shirt from a vintage store in Madrid. It cost €5.

What are you addicted to buying?

Knitwear, so my cashmere collaboration with Queene and Belle was a dream to work on. I am easily addicted to anything that I fall in love with.

Best ever bargain?

My vintage banana print top from a New York flea market that Chloé then copied. I used it on Kate Moss in my first Vogue shoot. It was $10. Most of my favourite second hand bits I got super cheap. And I still love them.

Who has great style?

My two best friends, as well as Anita Pallenberg, Chloë Sevigny, Kate Bush and Patti Smith. Stevie Nicks in her folk stuff was pretty unbeatable too.

Name your favourite high street shop.

Zara is very clever. It’s a great option for people who are into clothes but are also on a budget. H&M too.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

Lots probably, but that’s for other people to judge. I only wear what I love and I don’t care what people think, though it’s nice if they do approve.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

My denim shirt from Madrid, my baby pink Chinese jacket, my Hillier Bartley bomber, my thick cashmere commando sweater design for Queene and Belle. I love everything in my wardrobe after years of collecting and culling. n
