- by CRAIG STEWART

Queen of the South and Montrose face each other in a Scottish Cup replay after Saturday’s goalless draw at Links Park, with a home in the fifth round against Partick Thistle up for grabs.

Dumfries manager Gary Naysmith is taking no chances against the League 2 side and ordered a Sunday training session for his squad

He explained: “As soon as the final whistle went on Saturday the players were told that they would be in on Sunday and Monday. It was not a punishment. It was all about having the squad in the best shape for what will be another tough game against Montrose.

“They area very well organised side who have plenty of confidence as they are used to winning. We can’t just expect to turn up and win because we are in the Championship, and at home, so we have put the work in to give us the best chance of progressing.”

On-loan St John stone duo Jason Kerr and Chris Kane are not allowed to feature, with Danny Carmichael remaining out injured.

Montrose manager Stewart Petri ere ck ons that it would have been an in j ustice if Queens substitute Ross Fergus son had scored a glorious last-minute opportunity rather than blast it over the bar and denied his side a second chance to progress.

Petri es aid :“It would have been an injustice if we had lost as the players did really well.”

“We de served another chance and we have that. We will give it all that we have to get through.”

Ryan Ferguson and Danny Cavanagh remain out injured for the Gable Endies.
