Hearts and Hibs meet in Scottish Cup at Tynecastle for third year in a row
● Fraseburgh manager hopes home tie against Rangers will stay at Bellsea Park
Hearts and Hibs will go head to head in a Scottish Cup derby at Tyne castle for the third time in three years, while Fraserburgh have been handed a lucrative home tie against Rangers in the fourth round.
Hibs will be looking to knock out their Edinburgh rivals for the third year running when they meet at Tynecastle on the weekend of 20- 21 January.
They needed two bites at the cherry in the previous two encounters, drawing both at Tynecastle before winning the replays at Easter Road.
Hibs scored twice in the final ten minutes to force a fifthround replay in a 2-2 draw in February 2016, Jason Cummings scoring an early goal to win the replay 1- 0.
The teams then drew 0-0 in another fifth- round tie in February this year before Cummings, Grant Holt and Andrew Shinnie scored in a 3- 1 replay victory at Easter Road.
Unbeaten in eight games in all competitions against their rivals, Neil Lennon’s men have had the upper hand of late but Hearts will have a chance to set the record straight before the cup clash when they meet for a festive Premiership derby at Tynecastle on 27 December.
Fraserburgh manager Mark Cowie hopes his team’s showdown with Rangers will be played at Bellslea Park, which has a 3,000 capacity.
“It’s a massive draw for this club,” said Cowie. “Financially it will really help us out. To know one of the biggest clubs in Britain is coming up to play you is fantastic. The question now is, can we accommodate them?
“They have such a big sup - port and for footballing reasons I’d love it to be here. But I understand that is a decision we will have to make as a club. If it has to be moved so be it.
“Whatever happens this is definitely the biggest game the club has ever seen.”
Fraserburgh are one of four Highland League clubs still in the competition. The tie between For mar tine United and Cove Rangers means that at least one Highland League side will make it into the last 16.
