Johnston glad of Pars’ squad strength

- by CRAIG P STEWART

Dunfermline can move into second place in the Championship table with a win over Morton tonight as well as recovering three points that slipped through their hands at Cappielow earlier this season.

The East End Park men led 2- 0 at half- time in September, but Morton came back to win 3- 2. Pars manager Allan Johnston recalled: “The last game was a strange one as we were in control until we made a mis- take at the start of the second half. We lost a poor goal and never recovered before losing to another soft goal in injury time.”

He added :“Morton will be tough opponents again and we will be missing K all um Higg in bot ham and De clan Mcmanus th roughs us pensi on but we have a strong squad and will have players that are keen to slip in.”

N at Wed de rb urn is also a major doubt.

Morton manager Jim Duffy said :“We are facing a Dunfermline that we defeated earlier this season but I am not one for looking back as I prefer to look forward. Jai Quitongo scored a late winner that day and he is out injured this time, so spending a lot of time looking at that game is not part of my preparation.

“Dunfermline are good going for ward and score a lot of goals. We need to control their forward moves and then look to take the game to them.”

Connor Mcmanus, Lee Kilday and Michael Tidser are also injured, but new loan recruit Luca Gasporotto is added and Thomas O’ware returns after a knock.
