#TEXTS25

Yesterday marked a quarter of a century since the first text message was sent. Transmitted by Neil Papworth to his colleague Richard Jarvis at Vodafone on 3 December, 1992, the text simply read “Happy Christmas”. @Jonbenjamin19 said: “Then someone came up with LOL and it all went downhill.” @Davidvidecette said: “Remember getting my first text message, and not understanding point of them - why wouldn’t you just call? Then, within a few years, that’s all most people did.” @Thatconnartist joked: “Of course, the second ever text message in 1992 simply read: ‘HAVE YOU BEEN MISSOLD PPI? REPLY ‘YES’ TO CLAIM TODAY’.” @kathyclugston said: “Who’d have thought that 25 years later we could also send a wee pile of poo.”

#DONSVGERS

Ten-man Rangers notched their second league win over Aberdeen in a week. A sublime free kick from Frank Ross wasn’t enough to beat the Ibrox side, who edged it with goals from Danny Wilson and Josh Windass to move up into second place in the table – despite having a man sent off. Dons fan @Hamsatwit said: “Embarrassed to be a Dons fan today. I don’t blame the manager. Not his fault he’s forced to work with players not worthy of the jersey.” @jestejedno said: “I wonder how many of the Aberdeen players have been promised contracts at Ibrox. Dons fans should drive Mcinnes to Glasgow themselves.” @Briankingston said: “Well done 10-man Rangers, held on for 2-1 win at Aberdeen to go second in the SPL – 2nd league win over The Dons in 5 days!”

#MCINNES

Also a hot topic was the future of Aberdeen boss Derek Mcinnes, who has been the source of numerous rumours these past few weeks linking him with the Rangers manager role. @james_falconer fumed: “Mcinnes is done at Aberdeen now. Sadly he’s soured what could, and should, have been a solid legacy.” @mclaughlan57 said: “Too many Gers fans moaning about Mcinnes whilst they give no opinion on any realistic alternative” @Aberdeenchanged said: “Interesting to see Mcinnes patting club badge & kisses to fans in main stand on way to dugout. Never does that. A farewell or sign staying?” @mickally67 said: “First time I’ve seen a manager collect 6 points for a team he’s not even manager of!”
