Selfie obsession is classed as disorder
“Selfitis”, or the obsessive taking of selfies, appears to be a genuine condition.
The term was first coined in 2014 as part of a spoof news article claiming selfitis was deemed a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association.
Researchers have looked into the phenomenon after other technology-related disorders have been studied. Dr Mark Griffiths said: “We have now appeared to confirm its existence and developed the world’s first Selfitis Behaviour Scale to assess the condition.”
