Bogus traders caught out by rot infestation claim

-

Two bogus tradesmen tried to defraud money from pensioners by claiming their homes were infested with insects.

Paul Mcdonagh and William Mcphee yesterday admitted to targeting the women, aged 84 and 94, at their homes on the outskirts of Dundee.

Mr Mcphee was sentenced to eight months in prison, while Mr Mcdonagh was ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work.

The men falsely claimed they were carrying out free work under warranty before saying the attic spaces were infested by rot.
