Farewell, Heinz

-

I was sad to read about the passing of Professor Heinz Wolf.

Whilstiwasservingasalocal councillor I served with Heinz on the Edinburgh Science Festival Board.

I was at the time embroiled in a difficult planning enquiry which was on a site under 275,000 volt cables.

I sought advice from Heinz and he very carefully explained to me the dangers of living under these cables and the “Corona” magnetic field effect and the nitrates in the air being changed into nitric acid.

Dangerous levels of microtesla rays could also be emitted.

I was able to use his advice at the enquiry, which caused a major upset.

The planning application was refused. I am certain it was due to the scientific input of Professor Wolf that made the difference, for which I was very grateful, He will be missed.
