Hibernian Derby victory is special
It was a vital and well-deserved victory for Hibs over Ross County although, once again, the narrow margin of the win meant the result remained in doubt until the final whistle. Shaw and, in particular, Stokes gave terrific performances up front, both getting a goal, and the partnership showed signs of promise.
One aspect of modern football which is easy to dislike is the demise of the New Year’s day derby, moved for the convenience of television. There was a different, more jovial atmosphere about the fixture when fans of both sides would arrive from Hogmanay parties to meet up for a handshake and a bevvy. What hasn’t changed is the pleasure derived from winning; Hibbies can only hope it is our end celebrating.
