#IRN-BRU

The secret recipe of Irn-bru will be significantly changed for the first time in 117 years. AG Barr said the sugar content of Irn-bru would be cut by around 50 per cent – prompting devotees of the drink to begin stockpiling cans in case the taste changes. @A_KS_ said: “Barr say new Irn Bru tastes “good or excellent” compared to classic. Hmmm... Haven’t we been here before with Coke? We already have low-calorie versions available. Why not just add 100 per cent of the sugar tax cost to classic Irn Bru’s retail price and let people decide themselves?” @Dougiemckelvie jokingly added: “They’ll take the wee sausages out of tins of beans next!!” @Liveandll said: “Sugar is tried, tested and has survived through ages and ages and we humans have been just fine with it. Additives are a major concern, and in many cases cause immediate side effects and symptoms.”

#TRUMP

Lawyers representing Donald Trump have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, ordering him to ‘refrain’ from making ‘disparaging’ comments about the Trump family after Bannon’s explosive quotes in Michael Wolff’s upcoming tell-all book. @Nickkristof said: “The lawsuit won’t happen but it highlights the chaos and anxiety in the White House, and hints that 2018 will be an even wilder ride. This is not normal. A banana republic would be embarrassed.” @Numbersmuncher added: “The cease and desist letter that Trump had sent to Bannon was also meant for every other person who is thinking of speaking out. Stay silent or be ready to pay the price.”

#BREXIT

Tony Blair has advocated a second referendum for the final terms of the Brexit deal and said that “if Labour insists on leaving the single market, the handmaiden of Brexit will have been the timidity of Labour”. @Jamesharrisnow said: “Every word of this is right but people aren’t listening.” @lesley_ford added: “We voted to leave. It was not a vote to stay in but out, so the democratic decision should be no deal.” @Ricahrdhesketh1 said: “Good sentiments. It might have been an idea to get someone else to express them.”
