Dunfermline Banter beats abuse

- John V Lloyd

You felt reassured as part of the 7,140 crowd watching the derby against Falkirk, even though the fixture has “previous”.

Willie Collum is, arguably, the best ref in Scotland and kept a tight lid on things. There was a big police presence with Police Scotland CCTV camera vans and also stewards.

The singing from our end was banter, such as “You are going to join the Rovers” – which was devilment on our part as the prospect of relegation to the third tier would give the Falkirk club accountant nightmares.

From the other end came repulsive chants about Dean Shiels and the well publicised throwing on to the pitch of fake eyes. The football authorities must act.
