Cinderella

- Joyce Mcmillan

Allan Stewart and Andy Gray are in sparkling form in a version of Cinderella at the King’s in Edinburgh by top panto producers Qdos that rightly calls itself “the Fairy Godmother of all pantomimes”. This time around, Stewart is the Fairy Godmother, here mysteriously known as Fairy May and Gray offers some moments of real comic genius as a vintage Buttons. Grant Stott, meanwhile, provides local Edinburgh colour as Hibs’-loving villainess Baroness Hibernia Hardup. And with a breathtaking transformation scene to round off the first act, this brisk two-hour panto delivers some real festive magic, along with plenty of laughs. n King’s Theatre, Edinburgh, until 21 January, 0131-529 6000
