Police face petrol bomb attack
Police attending a security alert in Londonderry have been attacked with petrol bombs and fireworks.
No one was injured during the disturbances in the Lecky Road area of Derry yesterday.
Police and Army technical officers had attended the scene to examine a suspect device. The item later turned out to be what the PSNI described as an “elaborate hoax”.
Chief Inspector Alan Hutton thanked residents who had been evacuated during the security alert for their patience.
