Scotland’s fracking ban will face a legal challenge from Grangemouth owner INEOS amid claims the move is “unlawful” and a “misuse of ministerial power”. The Scottish Government imposed the ban in October. @Dorothybruce14 said: “I suppose it was to be expected. But Scottish Government have the vast majority of the population behind them. Fracking, though, is amongst the powers to be taken back by Westminster so...” @Rory_m_stewart stressed: “I won’t accept fracking as any part of my children’s future and will fight to ensure it isn’t if it comes to it.” @Stuartthomson3 continued: “They can frack right off, Scotland doesn’t want fracking. Over my dead body will they win.”

Ivanka Trump was mocked for backing Oprah Winfrey’s “inspiring” Golden Globes speech praising women for speaking out against sexual harassment. A tweet from the daughter of US President Donald Trump drew scathing criticism from celebrities including US television star Alyssa Milano, who pointed out her father had been the subject of numerous sexual harassment allegations. @Alyssa_milano posted: “@Ivankatrump @Oprah Great! You can make a lofty donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defence Fund that is available to support your father’s accusers.” @Gotopengel added: “@Ivankatrump @Oprah I didn’t think you could be dumber than Dear Old Dad. I was wrong.” @Anitaridlehoove offered: “@Ivankatrump @Oprah Do you even know what she was talking about?”

Virgin Trains has stopped stocking the Daily Mail on its West Coast route, saying the newspaper was “not compatible” with its “brand and beliefs”. @Claudiacc said: “Well done Virgin Trains. Really focusing on the important stuff. Never mind the skyhigh fares, packed carriages and endless delays and cancellations. Let’s control people’s reading material instead.” @Jermainjackman claimed: “The only thing Virgin Trains need to drop is their PRICES!” @Nigel_farage added: “We are heading in a worrying direction. Banning things because you don’t like them solves nothing.”
