THREE-DAY FORECAST

-

Scotland is set to see a change in weather in the week ahead after a week of heavy snow, according to the Met Office. Today, wind is expected over much of the country, but temperatures will be much milder than last week.

Heavy rain is expected in the north-west, with gales due to arrive this morning. However the east of the country will see mostly brighter, warmer spells but with some rain.

Temperatures should be around 5C-8C.

Many surfaces are expected to remain wet well into this morning. As temperatures fall overnight, some icy patches are expected to develop on untreated surfaces.

Rain will quickly clear the south-west of the country, leaving a mainly dry day in this area, although with showers persisting in the west and northwest, where it will also be windy. It will be a milder feeling day for most.

Tomorrow, gales are due to hit most of Scotland, with exposed areas and coastal parts of the country being particularly at risk. Some rain and heavy showers are due to hit in late afternoon. There will be light rain during the evening, but this should gradually ease off in most areas.

On Wednesday, stronger winds and severe gales are expected. Heavy showers will fall in many areas until early evening. Temperatures of 8C-9C re expected for most places, though it will be colder on higher ground and in coastal areas.

Heavy, showery rain and strong winds will clear during the day, with sunshine and blustery showers following for Thursday.
