Pensioner seriously hurt in car collision
A pensioner is in a critical condition after she was hit by a car.
The 79-year-old woman was crossing Carfin Street near Bracken Street, New Stevenston, when she was struck by a Volkswagen Golf on Saturday. The injured woman was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, then transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Police said she is being treated for lower body injuries and a head injury.
Hospital staff describe her condition as critical. The 58-year-old male driver of the VW Golf was uninjured.
