Still a Local Hero

-

Bullied physically, tactically transparent and no one disintegrates mentally quite like a Scotland team away from home. Players simply can’t combine confidence with the work ethic and professionalism to deliver consistently. Watch Ireland for a lesson in graft and professionalism and a team that delivers rather than believes their own hype.

Wimbledon Azzurri Had a bit to think about the game, think the whole team believed their own hype, just turn up and roll over Wales. There was no speed or aggression from the forwards, things were better when Ryan Wilson came on but Du Preez and Toolis were poor.

Router-al All a bit depressing. Like Twickenham last year I think the team were over-excited and believed all the hype. Tried to play expansive Southern Hemisphere-type rugby and it just didn’t work we just never looked like scoring until we started playing tight and less throw-around rugby. Back to the drawing-board and a rethink...

Scotflyer Dreadful result. Back to the bad old days again. No excuses just very very poor all round. Ball handling schoolboy standard and decision-making rubbish. Next weekends round trip to Murrayfield looks doomed already.

Rannoch Smith How dare Scotland turn up like that and not put any effort in, it was humiliating to themselves and their fans, they let themselves down and all their followers, total disgrace... fuming is an understatement.

Sally Mcleod-harry I was embarrassed and furious at that inept display but apparently it was all the fault of the Westminster Government so that’s a relief.

George Mackie “I Know Where I’m Going!” (1945).

James Vaughan One of my favourite films and soundtracks.

Teresa Starr Excellent! A favourite – hurry up!

Janet Jinty Cameron Such a brilliant film.

Lindy Houghton Certainly the best Scottish film. It’d make it into my best ten of all time.

Bramley I think a good second to the original “Whisky Galore”.

Gavin Beattie Taking a statue down does not erase history. It just withdraws approval. We have our own genocidal general in the US. George Armstrong Custer comes to mind, and he is not alone.

Jim Forrest I’m not condoning what he done but the thing is though so many leaders in history all over the world have done awful things but only in western countries would we ever consider taking a statue down of a person who was so important to their country. They’ve also removed two words from the Canadian national anthem to make it gender neutral. Canada is really concentrating on the important stuff, good on them.

Person223 He didn’t follow orders he violated crown orders. He was treasonous. It wasn’t rewriting of history. He was discharged dead by the crown. He murdered indigenous peoples against the crown. He shouldn’t be honored.

Ciiaqap Laura Fraser He offered bounties for the Mikmaq scalps – he thought they were traitors to the Crown – they were just trying to stand up for their land.

Christina Babson Why don’t these Snowflakes get on and do something useful and save the planet from plastic? Bunch of idiots.

Colin Macmillan So? This is how war was fought at the time.
