Prince Harry and fiancée, Meghan Markle made their first visit to Scotland as an engaged couple yesterday. @Sypjamie wrote: “Very excited to be taking a group of @Officialsyp Mental Health Champions to meet with HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this afternoon at Holyrood Palace.” @Mikesington added: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, draped in the most fabulous Burberry coat ever, wow the crowds in Scotland!” @Socialbite_ tweeted: “Had a lovely visit from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at our Rose Street Cafe this afternoon. They were introduced to some our team who were able to share stories of their experience with homelessness.”
#JEREMYCORBYN
Also visiting Scotland this week was Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, though his multi-town visit threatened to be overshadowed by rows over his stance on Brexit and the party’s response to comments by Hugh Gaffney MP, in which he used racist and homophobic slurs. @Dmccafferty49 asked: “If Labour in Scotland is autonomous and takes its own decisions why does Richard Leonard need Jeremy Corbyn to visit to garner support? Is he not up to the job of leader in Scotland?” @Stevenroy27 posted: “As a former diehard Labour voter let me tell Jeremy Corbyn how to win back Scotland. You can’t. Scotland has had enough of Labour lies and broken promises.” @Danirowley added: “So much enthusiasm, excitement and solidarity in Penicuik tonight. Everyone loved hearing from @jeremycorbyn @Labourrichard & @ Ianlaverymp. Together WE WILL build a society for the many!”
#PANCAKEDAY2018
It was Shrove Tuesday and people were excited. @Tomeatscake said: “I want to take a minute for all those who will be eating soggy, lukewarm badly-made crepes, instead of piping hot, fluffy, yummy Scotch pancakes, slathered in jam/ bacon & maple/whatever you fancy. Choose Scotch pancakes. Choose life.” @Twisteddoodles joked: “Where do Pancakes go when they die? Flipping hell!”
