#FLORIDASHOOTING
America was once again reeling from the all-toocommon occurrence of a mass shooting at a school after a former pupil killed 17 people at a school in Parkland, Florida. Sorrow quickly turned to anger as the issue of gun control was raised again. @Davidcorndc tweeted: “On gun control, Washington is not broken. Republicans have done everything possible to block gun safety legislation. The problem is specific, not systemic.” @Dashanestokes added: “Since 1968, more people have died from gun violence than in battle during all the wars the US has fought since it was founded. Let that sink in.” @Alexandergold pleaded: “Don’t say it’s too soon to talk about gun control when people who lived through a mass shooting are on TV and social media begging for it. Do we all have to experience a mass shooting to get it?” @Ddale8 retorted: “Trump calls for ‘love’ and ‘kindness’ in response to Florida school shooting, vows vaguely to deal with ‘mental health’, doesn’t mention guns, proposes no specific policies.” @Ryanafournier added: “The only person to blame for this shooting is the shooter, Nicholas Cruz. Not Donald Trump, not the Republicans and not guns.”
#ALEXMCLEISH
It appears that ex-boss Alex Mcleish is once again the frontrunner to become Scotland manager. The former Rangers manager is the third to be approached by the SFA, after failed bids for Walter Smith and Michael O’neill. @Mrewenmurray tweeted: “I have no problem at all with Alex Mcleish but surely post-o’neill you make a point of speaking to lots of candidates from different places? This process has become utterly bizarre.” @Neilcameron5 posted: “As for Alex Mcleish, my boat is not floating. He’s a great guy and I would love him to be a success... but he wouldn’t have been my third choice.” @R_kilday wrote: “Alex Mcleish. Only in this country would he be in talks for the national job and seen as a positive. Left Birmingham by email, joins their bitter rivals, fails, went to Forest, failed, Genk, failed, Zamalek in Egypt, failed.” @Traininspain agreed: “Oh dear. A manager who has done absolutely nothing of note in his previous handful of jobs gets a job that wasn’t good enough for him 10 years ago. His record since 2010 is abysmal.”
