Design a nod to rugby hero Doddie Weir’s playing days

-

A tartan dedicated to Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir has been launched with the endorsement of the former international player. The concept of a “Doddie tartan” has been realised to mark today’s Calcutta Cup battle at Murrayfield. The Doddie’5 Tartan will be sold to raise funds to aid research into motor neurone disease (MND). Weir announced last year he had been diagnosed with MND. The blue and white within his tartan represents the colours of Scotland, while the black and yellow is a tribute to Melrose RFC – the first amateur senior team Weir played for.
