#SNOW

Snow is set to fall across Scotland as unseasonably cold weather sweeps in from Russia. The storm, which has been named the Beast from the East, is bringing temperatures of -10C to -15C with wind chill in some areas. Weather warnings are in place and some train services could stop running. @Pandamoanimum said: “Had eight flakes of snow so I’m off to Tesco to buy 52 loaves of bread and 94 pints of milk.” @Mrtcharris added: “Beast from the East? Seriously? Ten years ago ‘a bit of a cold snap’ would have done nicely.” @Huwsamuel said: “It’s snowing. It’s windy. The wind is blowing my letter box open and spraying snow inside my house. I may build an indoor igloo if the opportunity presents itself.”

#CORBYN

Jeremy Corbyn’s shifting stance on the Customs Union sets the stage for a showdown with PM Theresa May as it’s a policy proeuropean rebels in her Conservative Party are willing to back. @Chrisraple said: “It’s nonsense, isn’t it? UK is not going to get a bespoke set of arrangements if we leave the Single Market and the Customs Union. EU has made this perfectly clear that there’s no pick and choose. UK has to choose only from existing options.” @Borisjohnson added: “Crumbling Corbyn betrays Leave voters – and all because he wants to win a Commons vote. Cynical and deluded.” @Daniel_grigg said: “Corbyn and Starmer, after the garbage they’ve had from indecisive and just plain indolent May and Davis, without trying to get the EU to break one of their key principles, see a bespoke deal actually become possible.”

#SCOTTBROWN

Celtic captain Scott Brown has retired from Scotland duty claiming a packed football calendar left him unable to give it his best. The 32-year-old has announced his international retirement for the second time in his career. @tartanalterego said: “I wish the rest of the Celtic players would follow him. We already have a packed schedule without adding international games.” @footieghirl123 added: “I am pleased. He is on great form. Let Broony concentrate on playing for a team he is adored in!”
