Record year for capital’s Vert

- By SCOTT REID

Vert Rotors, the Edinburghbased maker of advanced gas compressors, has announced a year of record growth and expansion.

The company’s year-end results have revealed that turnover grew by almost 200 per cent during a period when it created a new, more powerful model of compressor.

To help meet demand, the business has expanded its precision manufacturing facility in the city to allow it to ramp up production of its micro compressors. It has also hired five additional design and manufacturing engineers.

Meanwhile, four patents were granted last year to protect the company’s intellectual propertyandinnovation–two in the US and two in Europe for its software algorithm and conical compressor design.

The firm’s “disruptive” micro compressor technology is said to have attracted the attention of several international companies. It has grown its customer base to include key industry targets such as a major air compressor manufacturer, an automotive firm, an oil and gas drilling manufacturer and a space propulsion technology specialist.

Vert Rotors founder and chief executive Olly Dmitriev said: “It really has been an outstanding year for Vert. It is great to see that our growth has increased year-on-year by 197 per cent and we want to push forward to keep on track for 2018.”

He added: “I started this company with a product that was not available on the market, in an industry that had seen little innovation in compressor technology in decades. I spotted a gap in the market and never looked back. We shall continue to work hard to revolutionise manufacturing capabilities across a range of industries with our micro compressors.”
