Animal exports

-

One of the SNP’S most high-profile supporters, the Duchess of Hamilton, is considering leaving the party after the Scottish Government voiced opposition to a proposed Uk-wide ban on the exporting of live animals for slaughter after the UK leaves the EU. My late father, a Perthshire vet, railed against live export for slaughter and EEC ‘big is beautiful’ abattoir rules that saw animals transported, unwatered, unfed and generally abused for hours on end. Why? Because corner-cutting and economies of scale mattered more than humane treatment and the rules were difficult, if not impossible, to police.

Callumity The wee Greens should hang their heads in shame – propping up this SNP regime.

oneworld72 Regardless of constitutional or party politics this practice is unacceptable. I had been concerned that the cruelty exposed so eloquently by Selina Scott the other day would be a one-day wonder and never heard of again but the stance taken by the SNP ensures this will not be the case.

Arch Stainton So if the rest of the UK was in favour of live animal exports, does that mean the SNP would be against? After all, Scotland has to be seen to be “different”.

Hazel Smith The SNP are beyond help. They are like addicts who can’t get off the drugs. The halal market is disgusting and should be banned. The SNP shame Scotland. followed a lorry from Skye, it had come off a ferry from one of the islands, drove all the way through Skye and onto the mainland. A sheep had managed to get its head stuck, repeated calls from other drivers to stop and help the animal were ignored by the driver.

Road to Perdition People think animals do not think or feel – idiots.
