Going swimmingly: Protest is stitched up by a kipper as Farage comes aboard to dump fish in the Thames
Former Ukip leader Nigel Farage had to step in and help dump a tray of haddock into the River Thames after a Scottish Conservative MP backed out of a protest against the Brexit transition deal on fishing. Ross Thomson was expected to tip the fish into the river, but disembarked before the “symbolic” gesture took place. The protest ran into difficulty when it was initially prevented from mooring at Embankment Pier, next to parliament. The Environment Agency said it was satisfied that the demonstration had not illegally polluted the river.w
