#MENTALHEALTH

Mental health debate dominated Prime Minister’s Questions, with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn bringing up the cases of two mental health patients who died in care in 2012. @thomasbrake said: “Partisan exchanges on mental health in PMQS unlikely to do anything to improve services. What is needed is cross party appraoch, with focus on early intervention.” beverleyhb57 wrote: “I work in mental health, there is an appalling and dangerous lack of support or suitably trained professionals. May just lies and lies.”

#WORBOYS

A decision by the Parole Board for England and Wales to release rapist John Worboys has been overturned and the board’s chairman, Nick Hardwick, has resigned. @Zacgoldsmith said: “I can’t find words to reflect my admiration for the brave victims who had to face their attacker in court in order to secure justice. They should never have had to. This is a gigantic decision – and it must provoke reform of a failing criminal justice system.” @Thevintageyear wrote: “I suppose if nothing else, the Parole Board have had a masterclass in how effectively a highly skilled manipulator like Worboys can pull the wool over everyone’s eyes.” @Timaafinch posted: “Like all, pleased with the Worboys ruling, but am sparing a thought for Nick Hardwick, who is a thoroughly decent and honourable man.”

#KENDODD

Fans and celebrities turned out in their thousands yesterday to honour comedian Ken Dodd at his funeral in Liverpool. @carollowe98 said: “What a lovely day for rubbing treacle on your grandad’s head and saying ‘how’s that for a toffee apple?’ It still sends me and my sister into hysterics. RIP Sir Ken Dodd.” @craftedcreature added: “By Jove missus, what a sad day to say tattybye to Doddy. He’ll be missed.” @dixiedeansboots wrote: “A nice man who made people laugh – his farewell should be a celebration.” @Bodenjones said: “Wonderful, warm heartfelt send off for the brilliant #Kendodd in @Livcathedral earlier. And he’d have loved the fact it overran.” @Elearnermatt added: “By Jove he had a good send off...”
