It ain’t half hot: Runners take part in second stage of desert race
Competitors take part in the second stage of the 33rd edition of the gruelling Marathon des Sables in the southern Moroccan Sahara desert.
The 33rd edition of the marathon is a live stage 250 kilometre race through a formidable landscape between Ouest Aguenoun N’oumerhiout and Rich Mbirika in one of the world’s most inhospitable climates.
The first stage of the race, which sees runner compete at temperatures of up to 50 degrees, was won by Moroccan athlete Mohamed El Morabity, who finished the 30.3-kilometer race in 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 30 seconds.
