Peace process: Architects of the Good Friday Agreement mark 20th anniversary

-

The Good Friday Agreement was a “work of genius” and a “precious gift”, former US President Bill Clinton has said.

Speaking at a major conference in Belfast to mark the 20th anniversary of the historic 1998 peace accord, he urged the people of Northern Ireland to “inspire” the world again. Architects of the agreement including Seamus Mallon, Lord David Trimble, Bertie Ahern, and Gerry Adams pose for a photo on the 20th Anniversary of the signing in Belfast. Northern Ireland’s present devolved system of government is based on this agreement.
