Hospital guards demand stab proof vests
Guards facing 1,000 “security incidents” a year at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, are demanding stabproof vests.
The GMB union says there are two or three incidents involving a knife every month and use of weapons is on the increase. It also says the problem is compounded by poor CCTV coverage.
NHS Highland has rejectedcallsforstab-proofvests. It said a risk assessment five years ago deemed they were “not necessary” and that remained the case. The issues have been highlighted by GMB, which represents security staff.
