Partick Thistle Lambie will be missed

- Raymond Stark

There is not a Thistle fan who has not shed a tear over the sad news of the Maryhill Messiah’s sad passing. John Lambie was unique, as a manager and as a person. As happy with his “doos” as he was screaming obscenities at his players if they weren’t obeying his instructions.

He rightfully is held up as a Thistle legend. He made ordinary players believe in themselves and made them play at a level some of them maybe thought they were not capable of. He transformed Thistle after a horrendous period throughout the 1980s and again helped save the club in the late ’90s, winning back-to-back promotions and taking us to Hampden. He was Mr Thistle, a member of our family who will be greatly missed.
