Rangers complaint is ‘crass’
Neil Lennon has dismissed Rangers’ gripe about the number of tickets they have been allocated for their upcoming trip to Easter Road, saying that Hibernian fans take priority.
The Ibrox club hinted at security concerns after they were informed that ticket demand for the final game of the season, on 13 May, meant they would not be given the entire South Stand, but those comments were described as crass by Lennon, who said the arrangements were adequate when other Premiership clubs came calling.
“I’m not aware of any violence or unbecoming behaviour around Easter Road in my two years here,” he said. “I don’t know what they are talking about. I just didn’t think it was worded correctly from a club of that standing. But it didn’t surprise me.
“It was a bit crass really. They didn’t even get the day right. But they do like a statement! We will do what’s best for our club. Our allocation at Ibrox... we could do with more fans there but we only get 800-1,000 in a stadium of 48,000. We get 1 or 2 per cent of the stadium.”
With the clubs vying for second place, the match could be vital and as the three other stands are sold out, Hibs decided to reduce the away section to house more of their own fans .
“There is a big demand,” Lennon added. “The club used their prerogative to meet that demand.”
