- By GARY HEATLY

Hillhead/ Jordanhill captain Louise Mcmillan wants her side to become even more formidable next year after they ran in 12 tries to lift the Sarah Beaney Cup and complete the league and cup double on Saturday.

The Glasgow side were too strong for Wat so ni ans, coming out on top 68-12 at BT Murrayfield. The stars of the show for them were Scotland caps Hannah Smith and Abi Evans, both bagging four tries a piece and the former being named player of the match. Molly Wright scored two tries for a‘ Sonians outfit that never gave up.

Scotland back-row Mcmillan put the icing on the cake with a 50 - metre run to score the final try and she said: “We knew that we were coming into the game as favourites, but you still have to put in the performance and I thought we did that in this game.

“We scored some early tries and then Watson ian sc a me back into things a bit, but the great thing about this Hills’ team is that we are young and all wanting to keep improving and we ended things strongly.

“Over the season we have got better and better and pushed ourselves and we want to continue to set the bar even higher.”

Watsonians head coach Dave Flynn said: “If we have to come here to lose to learn how to win then that’s fine and I think there is loads of stuff we will learn from.

“We rallied quite well and that’s a big thing. There were some problems on the pitch, but we managed to sort them out and I am very proud of the efforts put in.”

Earlier in the day, Glasgow University won the BT Women’s Plate and Oban Lorne lifted the BT Women’s Bowl.

The students got the better of Greenock Wanderers 34- 17, with Oban Lorne seeing off Garioch 45- 5.
