#IRNBRU

US President Donald Trump may have finally gone too far by banning Irn-bru at his Trump Turnberry resort. Scotland’s other national drink, which is notoriously difficult to remove from carpets, is on the no-go list because of spillages. @Lucia_flevares posted: “A stain that can’t be removed? What a metaphor for this presidency.” @Stephenpaton134 added: “Following this news, protests against Trump’s visit to Scotland are expected to triple in size.” @Neilsmiles joked: “You’d think Trump would be a big fan of Irn-bru, what with them being the same colour.”

#PMQS

Prime Minister Theresa May faced her weekly grilling from MPS, including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Mrs May was on the rocks as Mr Corbyn challenged her on Cabinet divisions on the UK’S options for a Customs arrangement with the EU. @Peston wrote: “@jeremycorbyn has exposed that the Cabinet is nowhere near an agreement on future customs deal with EU. Bad day at the office for @theresa_may.” @Arj_singh added: “May refuses to say when Trade and Customs Bills (plus crunch votes) will come to the Commons. Suggests she is definitely delaying them because Government faces defeat.” @Paulwaugh summarised: “Corbyn won #PMQS by 6-0. May was left gasping like a stranded goldfish, her mouth moving but no answers emerging. She needs to find Cabinet unity on postbrexit customs – and fast.”

#EUROPEDAY

Yesterday marked a day of celebrating European integration and identity, a normally quiet event which has taken on greater prominence due to Brexit. @Femi_sorry wrote: “For everyone born after 1974, the only identity we’ve ever known as an adult is being both UK & EU citizens (Maastricht Treaty ‘92). That’s the generation that voted to keep our EU Citizenship. You get to keep being British either way, but you’re stealing our identity.” @Guyverhofsdat reflected: “Today is #Europeday! Exactly 68 ys ago, Robert Schuman appealed for a united Europe, after years of war. The EU we have since built together is far from perfect, but if it did not exist, we would now be thinking of a way to create it! Once we fought, now we talk. #Iameuropean.”
