Sheran eager to smash 113 years of history

-

Cove Rangers manager John Sheran reckons that his side’s League Two Play-off final second leg at Cowdenbeath today is the biggest game in his club’s history.

The first meeting ended goalless and Sheran also knows that the Blue Brazil’s desire to protect 113 years of history will be hard to overcome at Central Park.

Sheran said: “This is the biggest game that Cove have ever been involved in. We are 90 minutes away from achieving a place in senior Scottish football and that is something this club has sought after for a long time. That will drive us. However, Cowdenbeath will be fighting to protect their 113-year status as a senior club and will not give that up easily.”

Sheran, pictured, added: “We were the better side in the first game. However, we could not find a goal.

“I cannot fault the players for the way they went about things and I want them to play like that again but to grab a goal this time.

“There was no disappointment at not being ahead, only a focus on winning the second game.

“It could be a really good day in the club’s history or it could be one of the most disappointing and I know what I want it to be.”

Cow den be a th manager gary Bollan is hoping that his team rise to the challenge of keeping their place in senior football after a disappointing performance in the north-east last weekend.

The Blue Brazil cannot afford another off day and Bollan said: “We cannot just treat this game as a cup tie, we have to treat it as a cup final.

“It is a winner-takesall affair now and we have to play in that manner. “We are capable of being a good side and we showed that towards the end of the season. We need to hit that level of performance again.”
