#EASTCOASTMAINLINE

The UK Government announced that the East Coast mainline will be brought back into public ownership. The line, running from London to Edinburgh, was being operated in a partnership between Stagecoach and Virgin. @Carolinelucas argued: “The scrapping of the East Coast franchise should be the beginning of the end for the privatisation experiment on our railways. If public ownership is good enough for this line, then why not the rest of the network?” @Daveprentis posted: “East Coast mainline back in public control for the third time in 10 years. When will the Tories get the message? All public services are better off in public hands.” @Politic_animal joked: “I do hope the government has a loyalty card it gets stamped every time it buys back the East Coast franchise. The next time should be free.”

Theresa May faced her weekly grilling from MPS in Prime Minister’s Questions. She was challenged on Brexit divisions in her Cabinet, and the so-called ‘powers grab’ row unfolding in Scotland. @Adambienkov tweeted: “Theresa May, who dumped half the Conservative manifesto the day after the general election, accuses Labour of breaking its election promises.” @Mcgtopher wrote: “UK government is supposed to accept a vote that amounts to nothing more than a grievance attack with no substance and yet the SNP won’t accept the results of two referendums.” @Spink_jonathan added: “Theresa May bringing up the independence referendum as a vote of confidence in the Union is a low blow considering Scotland was promised continued membership in the EU in that referendum.”

#DAVIDMOYES

Scottish manager David Moyes found himself unemployed once again after leaving his job as manager of West Ham. @Kida___ posted: “Well done, David Moyes. You inherited a shambles of a team. You weren’t backed in the transfer window. The club is in chaos. God knows how you got West Ham to 42 points. Good luck with whatever you do next.” @Jonmikesav tweeted: “Joe Hart blaming David Moyes for his World Cup omission? Moyes is to blame for a lot of things but Joe Hart being rubbish is not one of them.”
