I have ridden a bicycle around the world! Great way to travel. I’ll be in Edinburgh in June and look forward to cycling there as well!

F.A. Hutchison Be exciting to see all of our MSPS and city councillors cycling to parliament and council functions from their homes, the railway station or the park and rides. No longer any need for “official” cars and a huge saving in the transport budget. Except ...

Margaret C. Macgregor Except Nicola will still want a driver plus the expense of a tandem!

Nicolas Sturgeon People are not legally obliged to wear a helmet on a bike and there is evidence to show that they don’t actually do very much in most accidents. For example, what use is a helmet going to do if you get run over by a lorry?

Allessamdro Another stupid idea... who is to say the idiot renting the bike is competent to be on the roads? Cyclists should have the same restrictions motorists have, bikes certified every year, have to pass a test to be on the road and have insurance! As it is, any idiot in Lycra can wander along the main roads or pavements being a menace .

Lennie My God, what a bunch of negative whingers in this city. Hundreds of cities around the world have been running these bike programmes successfully for 10+ years. Their citizens are not being maimed in droves. So what makes all you doubters think Embra is so different?

Jock Mcsprog Amazing news! It is great to see that they will use Pashley bikes – UK company and made in the UK – not a foreign supplier. The scheme was long-awaited in Edinburgh and it will make it a real European capital.

Patrick Mally Mally Brilliant business plan! Let’s wait until it’s cold and raining before we offer bicycles for hire! Hopefully the lad is aware of this honour bestowed upon him. Earl of the ancient fortress of the “Old North”, awash with Arthurian legend and probably where Merlin opened his first chemist shop.
