Warning issued after two girls rescued from sea
A warning has been issued about the dangers of using inflatables after two girls were swept out to sea in the Solway Firth.
Two girls on lilos were caught out by the tide off Sandyhills beach – about five miles south of Dalbeattie – on Saturday afternoon sparking a major rescue operation.
Four men staying at a nearby caravan site went into the water and managed to help them to shore.
They were not harmed but coastguards are warning beachgoers to be extra careful when using inflatables in dangerous coastal areas.
