Craig & Rose paints the town red with new site

- By SCOTT REID

Craig & Rose, the paint maker that provided the coating for the Forth Bridge for more than a century, has selected Edinburgh for its first dedicated showroom in Scotland.

The Stockbridge store on Deanhaugh Street is part of a roll-out campaign which complements the company’s recently opened London branch, in Chiswick.

The new Edinburgh showroom is less than two miles from the original Craig & Rose factory in Leith, where the company was founded in 1829 by James Craig and Hugh Rose. Today, the firm’s paints continue to be produced in a purpose-built factory in Scotland.

Phil White, general manager at Craig & Rose, said: “We were founded in 1829 in Edinburgh so the warmth to the memory ofcraigandroseandourlocal heritage has been heartening.

“Producing quality paint finishes using the latest technology whilst incorporating traditional methods is at the heart of what we do.”
