#EDMARATHON

One of the highlights of the Scottish running calendar, the Edinburgh Marathon, took place in overcast conditions yesterday. Some 35,000 people took part in the full and half-marathon events, which were held over a new route. @Bzlwzl said; “I’ve just finished the Edinburgh Marathon. It was fabulous. My race went better than I could have hoped. But I’m not at my fundraising target yet! I’d love to get a bit more for @Stagebeyond! If you could spare anything that would be super.” @martin239 commented: “Lucy just finished the Edinburgh marathon and I just got a stitch running for the train. Opposites attract, and all that.” @in_tory offered: “Very very proud of my eldest daughter who’s just completed the Edinburgh Marathon at her first attempt, without any prior training. Five hours twenty minutes.” @decmckenzie67 added: “Well done to everyone taking part in the Edinburgh marathon today raising money and awareness for various charities.”

#CHAMPIONSLEAGUE

The fall-out from Saturday’s Champions League final match between Liverpool and Real Madrid continued yesterday, with fans showing support for goalkeeper Loris Karius, who was at fault for two goals in Madrid’s 3-1 victory. @Loriskarius said: “Haven’t really slept until now... the scenes are still running through my head again and again... I’m infinitely sorry to my teammates and for all the staff. I know that I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down.” @Raecomm commented: “Goalkeeper is the least forgiving position on the pitch. Everyone remembers the mistakes. Hope Loris Karius has the strength to put it all behind him. Have been watching him for years and he is a fine keeper. Same for Sven Ulreich on the back of his semi against Real Madrid.” @Dralakbarov observed: “Anyone from my Twitter feed who is sending online abuse to Loris Karius can unfollow me. It takes guts and humility to admit mistakes. Admitting we’re wrong is courage, not weakness.” @Bvbcambridge said: “After reflecting on it all, just feel real sorrow for Loris Karius. No one should have to lose like that. No single man should have to bear that kind of burden”
