yoyoegg The culture of our country has changed beyond belief and far too many are now happy to live a life of sloth paid for by the state. Their “pretend disabilities” have put a huge strain on the resources and finances of the NHS and it is no surprise that doctors are under pressure.

Wright One of my relatives is a GP. She is taking early retirement this month as she has had enough of 12-hour days, the emotional stress of the job and the bureaucracy. So I have sympathy for this lady.

Hammerofthenats Let’s hope this story will not be in vain and the lives of other GP will be the better for it. Medicine as a career is now an utter shambles. Hundreds of GP practices in special measures. The same is now happening in hospital medicine... dire levels of recruitment and retention. Appalling administrative nonsense dumped on top of clinical duties and useless hoops to prepare for such as appraisal and revalidation.

Neverendumdidlydumb Wonderful news, Mr Swinney, and this will indeed make up for the shortfall in teachers’ numbers and their growing unrest regarding their pay!
