GENERATION GAME AT THE KNOCKHILL 100

-

Three generations of the same family will be tackling the first Knockhill 100 endurance race this week.

Gordon Grigor, 64, from Milton of Campsie and his 18-year-old grandson Callum Grigor will line up on the grid for the endurance challenge while Gordon’s son Mark, Callum’s dad, will act as crew chief and mechanic as they tackle 100 laps of racing at Knockhill.

Gordon is no stranger to the endurance racing scene as he is a previous UK Endurance Champion and continues to keep his hand in to this day. Gordon travels all the way to South Africa each year for a Scotland v South Africa race of champions and last year finished third in a race at Knockhill. Gordon will be entered on his trusty JSXR 1000 and Callum on his regular race bike, a Kawasaki ZX10.

The first ever 100 lap race has drawn a number of special combinations, not only across three generations but the Gilfillan brothers, Sean and Greg, are entered and the father and son duo of Torquil and Lewis Paterson are also up for the challenge.

The race forms part of this weekend’s inaugural Bikefest at Knockhill - a celebration of everything on two wheels.

Stuart Gray, Knockhill‘s director of events said: “What makes this race at our first Bikefest so special is not only the mix of the teams entered but the distance the race is and not only that, it will feature a Le Mans start, something that has not been done for around 15 years

“Bikefest is really gathering pace with the variety of content as not only will there be the Endurance races over 100 and 50 laps, but there are parades of re wind bikes from the 70s, 80sand 90s, parades, track day sessions, mini mo to races as well as race between superbike and a supercar.”

Action starts at 8.45am on Sunday, with adult admission £15.
