Vision on: How the English Premier League games will be split across different platforms

-

The Premier League announced yesterday that online retail giant Amazon has agreed a deal to televise 20 matches per season from the 2019-20 campaign.

BT has purchased the one other outstanding package of rights left available, taking its total to 52 matches per season under the new deal.

Here, we look at how the matches have been split across the different broadcast platforms. Sky Sports (128 live games) Packages: Four. Broadcast slots: Saturday (kickoff 5:30pm/7:45pm); Sunday (2pm/4:30pm); Monday (8pm); Friday (7:30pm/8pm).

Sky Sports retains the biggest share of the broadcast options, winning four out of the seven packages available and will show some 128 live matches.

These include the first choice for every weekend match, with a new primetime Saturday night slot at 7:45pm covering eight fixtures.

There will be 32 matches shown by sky sports on saturday sat 5:30 pm, while Sunday will see 24 matches broadcast at 2pm, with “Package D” of 32 matches at 4:30pm.

“Package E” was also won by Sky Sports, which gives the option of 24 matches on Monday night at 8pm or Friday evening for 7:30pm/8pm kick-off, with an additional eight matches on Sundays at 2pm. BT Sport (50 live games) Packages: Two. Broadcast slots: Saturday (kickoff 12:30pm); Midweek (7:45pm/8pm *tbc)

The Saturday 12:30pm slot to show 32 matches from August 2019 as part of “Package A” went to BT Sport. Following yesterday’s announcement, it was confirmed BT paid £90 million for an additional 20 matches from two midweek fixture schedules as part of “Package G”. Amazon (20 live games) Packages: One. Broadcast slots: Bank Holiday (kick-off tbc); Midweek (7:45pm/8pm *tbc).

In a first venture into Premier League broadcast rights, Amazon has won the bid for “Package F”.

This covers 20 matches over one full Bank Holiday round of games and also one further midweek schedule for the three seasons, which will include the winter break.
